Our history
AB Kontaktpressning was founded in 1965 and has been a leader in customized cabling for 60 years. From being a local Swedish company, we have grown into a trusted partner serving various industries throughout the Nordic region and globally.
Our history actually begins even before the company was founded. Abbe Mühlrad, a young and innovative engineer, was the first in Sweden to use insulated cable lugs. At the age of 25, he started the company ABIKO – a name that playfully played on the phrase "Abbe has no competition". Cable lugs and the famous Abiko 50 pliers quickly became a hallmark for the company, whose products are still leading the way worldwide.
Olof Landgren, who previously worked at ABIKO, decided to start his own business in 1965 and founded AB Kontaktpressning. The name describes exactly what we do – we press cable lugs onto cables! Under Landgren's leadership, the company established itself as a reliable player in the industry.
When Olof Landgren passed away in 1979, the Mühlrad family took over ownership of AB Kontaktpressning. This created a natural connection back to the industry's Swedish roots through Abbe Mühlrad's pioneering work. At the time of the takeover, the manufacture of jump leads was part of the production operations in Tyresö.
Since then, we have continued to develop the business with the same passion for quality and innovation. Our own manufacturing in Tyresö has been the hub of the business, and from here we have expanded from being a local player to becoming a respected partner for customers both in the Nordics and internationally.
Today, we proudly carry on the legacy of both Mühlrad and Landgren, with a focus on customized solutions, high quality and technical expertise.

Collaborate with Tyresö Municipality to support people who need extra help to establish themselves in the job market. Several of these collaborations have resulted in long-term employment with us, which has enriched both the individuals and our organization.
Offer internships and opportunities for students to carry out thesis or other research projects with us. We regularly collaborate with Tyresö Gymnasium and Södertälje Science Park, giving young talents a valuable insight into our industry.
